Pre-arrival orientation

PRE-ARRIVAL ORIENTATION (Mandatory Requirement)

As required by the U.S. Department of State, you will have access to the following materials by accessing your GEC online record:

• GEC’s J-1 Summer Work Travel Participant Handbook
• A copy of the Department of State’s Summer Work Travel Participant Letter
• A copy of the Department of State’s Summer Work Travel Program Brochure
• Information regarding your health insurance
• Information advising you of your obligation to notify GEC when you arrive in the United States and to provide information, within 5 days, of any change in jobs or residences

You will also receive a link to the online orientation presentation where you will be required to go through the presentation and give your electronic signature at the end. THIS IS MANDATORY and requires your participation in order to be in the J-1 Summer Work Travel program. Failure to complete this orientation prior to your program start date will result in the termination of your sponsorship and the cancellation of your DS-2019 Form. You are required to become familiar and understand the contents of the orientation. Other documents that will inform you about your J1 program include your Work Agreement, Program Information Guides (if applicable) as well as the online resources by state on GEC’s website.
