One of the most remarkable traditions of America, summer camps began in 1800’s. Set among the country’s most beautiful and remote landscapes, today there are over 12.000 summer camps catering to nearly ten million children annually. Camp USA is a cultural exchange program with many benefits. It allows young people to better understand and embrace the American culture, its people, and its country. It helps improve the confidence, responsibility and communication skills of young people as well as develop their life experience. Obtaining a job as a camp counselor is one of the best ways to build an impressive resume.

Summer Camp Counselor Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure Camper Safety:Supervise and manage campers at all times, except during scheduled breaks.

    Maintain a safe environment in classrooms, bunks, sports fields, and dining hall.

  2. Facilitate Fun and Engagement:Plan and lead daily recreational and educational activities.

    Activities may include arts & crafts, outdoor sports, swimming, horse riding, musical performances, and more.

  3. Assist with Camp Management:Support camp management in various camp areas and activities.

    Collaborate with fellow counselors and staff to ensure smooth camp operations.

  4. Participation in Camp Events:Lead or participate in whole camp activities and special events.

    Events can include talent shows, camp competitions, camp band performances, and end-of-the-year musicals.

There several types of camps in the USA and every camp may be unique and vary depending on location, environment, activities, facilities and campers. All the camps GEC works with are carefully vetted and share our high standards, as well as those of the American Camp Association (ACA) The majority of GEC Camp USA participants are placed in traditional camps, which can be co-ed or serve only female or male campers.
