Mandatory orientation
As part of your Camp USA program, you must complete the required pre-arrival orientation before your program begins. The orientation helps you understand program rules, safety expectations, sponsor responsibilities and the practical steps you need to follow in the United States.
You will receive access to the orientation through your GEC online record or through instructions shared by GEC or your local partner. Complete it carefully and keep any confirmation for your records.
This is a mandatory program requirement. Failure to complete the orientation before your program start date may affect your sponsorship and DS-2019 record.

Your GEC online record gives you access to important program materials that you should review before departure. These materials explain the exchange visitor program, your sponsor support, insurance and key responsibilities during your stay.

Electronic signature
At the end of the online orientation, you may be asked to confirm that you have reviewed and understood the information. This confirmation may be completed through an electronic signature or similar acknowledgement.
Read each section before signing. Your signature confirms that you understand the rules, expectations and support structure connected to your J-1 Camp USA program.
Arrival and updates
You are responsible for notifying GEC when you arrive in the United States. You must also provide updated information if your U.S. residence, camp placement or contact details change during the program.
- Follow the GEC arrival reporting instructions
- Keep your U.S. phone, email and address current
- Report job or residence changes within the required timeline
- Contact GEC before making any program-related change
