Know what to carry, what to expect at the port of entry and what to check after you arrive in the United States.
Keep your most important documents in your carry-on baggage. You may need to present them before collecting checked luggage, so do not pack them in a suitcase.
When you arrive, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer will review your documents and ask questions about your visit. Answer clearly and consistently. Explain that you are entering as a J-1 exchange visitor for the Camp Counselor program.
Your admission is decided at the port of entry, so keep your paperwork organized and follow the officer’s instructions.
After entering the United States, check your electronic I-94 record online. Your admission class should reflect J-1 status, and your personal information should match your passport.

Follow GEC arrival instructions, keep your contact details updated and travel to your camp according to the plan provided by your host camp or partner agency.
