The DS-160 is the online nonimmigrant visa application form. Complete all required questions carefully and make sure your answers match your passport, DS-2019 and program records.
After submitting the form, print the confirmation page with the barcode. You will need this confirmation for your visa appointment.

After completing the DS-160 and receiving your DS-2019, schedule your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your home country or country of residence. Walk-ins are generally not accepted.
Most applicants must pay the Machine Readable Visa application fee, often called the MRV fee, before the interview. The amount and payment method are set by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate and may change.
Keep your payment receipt and bring it to the interview if requested. Visa application fees are generally non-refundable.
The Embassy or Consulate may ask for documents that show your program purpose, your ability to cover travel costs and your intent to return home after the program.
Arrive on time and follow the security rules for the Embassy or Consulate. Many locations do not allow phones, electronics or large bags, so check the local instructions before you go.
Be ready to explain your Camp USA role, the purpose of the cultural exchange program, your travel plans, your funding and your plans after returning home. The interview may be conducted in English.

If your visa is approved, the Embassy or Consulate will explain how your passport with the visa stamp will be returned. Processing times vary, and some applications may require additional administrative processing.
Do not make final travel plans to the United States until your visa has been issued and your passport and DS-2019 have been returned. When you receive your passport, check that the visa category and personal details are correct.
Some J-1 exchange visitors may be subject to the two-year home-country physical presence requirement, also known as 212(e). If it applies, it will usually be indicated on your visa or program documents.
